Helene Leuchtenmueller Obituary

Helene Maria Leuchtenmueller, 93, of Miami, passed away peacefully on October 24 after a decline in health. Her family was at her side.

She is survived by her children Ingrid (Neil) and Dieter (Beatriz), and grandchildren Trevor, Melissa, and Michelle.

The only child of Georg and Maria Braun, she was born in Yugoslavia and found her way to Austria where she met Wilhelm, her husband of 63 years.  They moved around the world and immigrated to the United States, living in New York, Ohio, Michigan, and settling finally in Miami where she proudly became a US citizen.

She worked as a skilled seamstress in Michigan and a Tolls Supervisor in Miami where she shared a smile with motorists who came specifically to her toll booth to say hello.  Normally a quiet person, she lit up when talking to those she cared about.

She was an accomplished seamstress, cook, and gardener.  She spent her retirement reading and spending time with family.  She had a gentle heart and sense of wonder.

Dearest Mama, we wish you peace and love as you join those that have gone before you.  Our mother and grandmother, may her memory be for a blessing.

Her family is grateful to the staff at Majestic Memory Center and VITAS Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her memory to VITAS Community Connection (Miami, Florida 33157).
