Alberta Rozsay Obituary

In Memorium for Alberta Rozsay

It is with great sorrow that we share the news that Alberta Rozsay passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 7:27 a.m. She was a native of New York City and then retired to Boulder City, NV,  and until recently lived in Lauderhill, FL. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Akbarzadeh; her children Geraldine Magee (Magdy Salem), Jeanette Magee, David Magee (Noelia Tavieres), and Daniel Katz-Braunschweig (Gloria Katz-Braunschweig); stepdaughter Karen Kuznick (Austin Rose); her grandchildren Elizabeth Magee, Marissa Goldberg, Aidan and Sofia Katz-Braunschweig, and Christopher Magee; as well as her great-grandson, Oliver Magee. She is predeceased by her long-time partner, Rene Katz-Braunschweig, and her brother, Robert Rozsay (Marilyn Rozsay).

Alberta had a life well-lived and a smile that radiated like sunshine. She was one tough NY broad - a kind, loving, and humble trailblazing woman ahead of her time. She lived and experienced things before they were labeled – single-mother, meliorist, and globe-trotter. She was an avid reader, scholar, and Scrabble player. One would never know that she faced many personal challenges in her life given her impressive courage and resiliency. Having been the child of Hungarian emigres, she aspired to live the American Dream and created an extended family and friends network that was a true melting pot and a testimony to all that is great in humanity.

For those lucky enough to have known and been loved by Alberta during her 75 years on this earth, we were blessed by her joie de vivre, grace, open heart, hearty laugh, frank opinions, and love of nature’s beauty. There was always an extra seat at her table and room in her heart for those who needed refuge.

Alberta’s happy place was sitting on a porch with a cup of Folgers coffee and taking in the beautiful scenery and wildlife. The Earth has lost a powerful life force; may those who loved her draw from her strength and memories to carry on her unique ethos in the generations to come.

A private virtual Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. Alberta’s family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to plant a tree in her honor through The Arbor Day Foundation (https://www.arborday.org/), or a donation made to another non-profit nature conservation organization of your choosing.
