Charles Edward Monroe, age 71, courageously departed this life on March 30th, 2017 due to pancreatic cancer; peacefully passing away in his home surrounded by those dearest to him.
He was born in Camden, New Jersey where he helped to support his family. After moving to South Florida in his twenties, he enjoyed friendships and gathered memories too plentiful to recount here. Still, everyone who knew him will never forget those sunlit days when never a tear would fall. Chuck adored eating pasta, vacationing in Italy and partying with friends. His laughter, his smile and, of course, his “Birdman” haircut were his crown. “Che bella cosa!” was one of his favorite expressions, and his motto for living a life filled with gusto and boundless charm.
His partner of 39 years, Dennis Marrone and Charles Monroe, were married only days before, thanks to the help of so many. Forever deep in the heart of our Courthouse, it is now written that they loved each other greatly. This may only be a small marker on the drawn-out span of time but it was very important to both of them.
His sister, Patricia Monroe and her Family and Dennis and his Family, are grateful to everyone for their outpouring of support at this time of shared sadness. We hope that you will always treasure each moment-- or as Chuck would put it, “Che bella cosa… What a beautiful thing!”
