C. Don Petersen, Sr. passed away in Fort Lauderdale on December 13, 2021 at the age of 80.
Don lived in the Fort Lauderdale area for over sixty years. He grew up in Cleveland Ohio. He was an excellent athlete, extraordinarily gifted. Don lettered in swimming, basketball and baseball at Shaw High School. He was awarded an athletic scholarship to Rutgers University where he excelled in basketball and baseball and in his academic studies.
At the end of his college career the Milwaukee Braves drafted Don into their farm system as a left-handed first baseman and a long-ball hitter. He stayed with the Braves for two years and left to make his career in the insurance industry as a salesman. He loved sales and he loved South Florida.
Don leaves behind a daughter, two sons, a daughter-in-law and eight grandchildren, including a new, lovely granddaughter-in-law. Don’s long-time and very special lady friend and his former wife were two of his very close and loyal friends. All of these he loved, and all loved him.
Don will be missed.
