Consuelo B. Obias, 87, of Tamarac, Florida passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020.
Consuelo was born on September 1, 1932 in San Pascual, Masbate, Philippines to father Donato Balbastre and mother Narciso Dy, and was the youngest of five siblings.
She worked as an elementary school teacher, then worked as a bookkeeper for the Philippine Government and retired early to move to the United States, in 1995, to help raise her only grandchild.
She enjoyed going to church on Sundays, completing word searches and watching Family Feud in her spare time – but most of all, she treasured spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her four siblings, and her husband Jose Obias.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria (Connie) Beverly, granddaughter Stephanie Beverly, and son-in-law Steven Beverly of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; daughter Tessa De Leon of Abu Dhabi UAE; nieces Lita Gardiner of Flossmoor, Illinois, Rebecca Visceral of San Diego, California, and Gina Perez of Toronto, Canada; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins in the Philippines.
She will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends and will be dearly missed.
Consuelo will be laid to rest at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in North Lauderdale. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
