David Bruce Jones, 94, passed away peacefully at his home in Plantation, FL on Saturday June 26, 2021. Bruce was born in Pittsburgh, PA on 8/10/1926, son of the late William E. and Elsie (Smith) Jones. He moved to Florida with his young family in 1957. They enjoyed the best of Florida life, residing over the years in Maitland, Marathon Key, Ft. Lauderdale and Plantation.
Bruce loved the sea, cruising, fishing, hunting and his beloved Pittsburgh Panthers, his alma mater. He lived a rich and multifaceted life, from carefree days as a boy in Ingomar PA, to naval seaman, poultry farmer, insurance salesman, school teacher and more. But his greatest love was for his God and fellow spiritual brothers & sisters within the Christian congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where he served as an elder and minister for over half a century.
He is survived by Ruth (Boyd) Jones, his rock and loving wife of 74 years; two children, Randolph Jones & wife Barbara Jones of Tamarac, and Robin Jones Eddinger & husband Mike Eddinger of Weston; grandchildren Kristin Eddinger Davies of Gainesville and Cherie Eddinger of Tallahassee, and great grandchildren Jonas & Milo Davies of Gainesville.
