David Krystopher, 61, of Fort Lauderdale Florida, passed away on January 26, 2016, after a long battle with cancer and organ failure. He had suffered from serious health problems for over a decade. David was born on Long Island New York in 1954 and he attended Sanford H Calhoun High School.
From early on David was very adventurous. Just before he passed David recalled a story about how he snuck off to Woodstock at age fifteen to see all his favorite bands only to get stuck in hours of traffic. He was sure his parents were going to punish him when he got home. He recalled they must have seen the disappointment on his face and surprised him by being “very cool about it”.
David met his first wife Deloris Diane Brown of Indiana (deceased), when he was only eighteen. They met while traveling cross country together and he was married a few months later. Years later David met Christine “Chris” Jane Young of Missouri. They fell in love and he and his “best friend and angel”, as David would call her, were married. Chris lost her battle with cancer when she was only fifty years old.
Starting out David worked as an emergency room orderly but said he was “not a nine to five kind of guy”. He spent years touring with well known rock bands as a roadie. David was a carefree thrill seeker who traveled and lived all over the country. Some of his frequent stops and longer residence including New York City, New Orleans, Colorado, New Mexico, Key West, St Louis and Fort Lauderdale. He was a singer, guitarist, and song writer. He was sometimes known as “New York Dave”. In later years he enjoyed working as a cook in local cafés where he could hear artists and bands.
David was a true free spirit, always willing to give away whatever he had to those in need. He personified the bohemian life style of the sixties and seventies. He was a friend to everyone he met. He loved all animals and during his life he had both parrots and dogs. He was interested in wildlife conservations and the welfare of all animals. David is remembered for his characteristic charm, generosity, unique sense of humor, his long dark hair and his steel blue eyes.
He is survived by his mother, Lorraine Krystopher and his sister, Colette Krystopher.
David is preceded in death by his father Joseph Krystopher Sr, His brother Joseph Krystopher Jr., his wives, Deloris Diane Brown and Christine Jane Young.
