Douglas Parks Obituary

Douglas ‘Howard’ Parks of Ft. Lauderdale, FL passed away Sunday March 22, 2015.

He was born August 20, 1949 to Douglas and Bobbie Parks in Fredericksburg, TX. Howard moved to Fort Lauderdale 4 years ago to be near his beloved daughter Kristy Parks and granddaughter Alyson Parks.

He was preceded in death by his father Douglas Parks and sister Jenny Elsass.

Howard, also known to many in Fort Lauderdale as Doug or Dad, was a great carpenter from an early age. He helped with the construction of DFW airport in the early years and, later on, honed his craft building some of the first houses constructed in what is now known as Las Colinas TX. New home construction was his area of expertise. He built homes all over Dallas, Ft. Worth, Waco, Houston and South Padre Island. He and his brother Robert Parks had a partnership in construction where they built homes, apartments and commercial fixtures. Later in life he worked with his son Brad Parks. Where together they were successful in all projects.

Howard worked and played by his own rules, living life the way he wanted. He was loved by all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Bobbie, sister Carolyn Tucker, brothers Robert, Billy, Bobbie Joe and Jack, son Brad Parks and daughter in law Alisa, daughter Kristy Parks, grandchildren Brittany, Ashton, Brandon, Alyson and Jonathan, and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a large extended family and friends.

He was a kind soul who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
