In Plantation, Florida on Thursday night, June 20th, 2024, Earl Robert Powers, best known to friends and family as Bob, passed away calmly and peacefully with his two loving daughters by his side.
After suffering a major stroke in April 2023, Bob rallied and fought to stay around for not only his two daughters, but also to watch all of his five beautiful grandchildren grow over the next year. His passing only seemed to happen when all of his grandchildren and daughters were together in the same home with him.
He is preceeded in death by his two parents, Edward Powers and Corrine LeMaster, who welcomed him into the world on May 2nd, 1957 in Ashland, Kentucky. He is also preceded in death by others, but most significantly by infant brother, Edward Powers, stepbrother, Robbie Suttle, and wife and mother of his daughters, Christine Powers.
His exceptional humor and ability to play Rook and card games like poker will thrive via his daughters, Johnna (Adam) Danes and Carlie (Bernardor) Añor. His grandchildren, Adriana Powers-Hadley, Caleb & Carson Danes, and Camíla & Matías Añor will continue to be shown the best movies, music, and how to drive a boat, as their Papaw would have done.
He will be supremely missed by numerous nieces and nephews, half-and-step siblings, and friends. But maybe most especially by his living aunts and uncles and siblings; Michael (Theresa) Powers, Jo Ann (Mark) Burkey, and Jeff (Brandi) Suttle.
Aside from spending time with his family, Bob enjoyed boating on Lake Erie & Lake Cumberland, going to the beach, The Ohio State University football (bowl games!), a nice frosted mug, and playing a lucky poker screen at the casino. He was also amazing at restoring Lyman Boats to their original glory. Bob is the most generous person who never met a stranger, and someone who could know you through six-degrees of separation or less.
The family wants to extend our sincerest appreciation to the Vitas CC team for their care of Bob through his final days of hospice, especially V, who somehow knew exactly how he wanted his beard cleaned up without ever hearing a word utter his lips. A celebration of life will be held in Columbus, Ohio at a later date, details to follow. One can reach out to family for any additional information.
