James Pleasant Mahan, III

James Pleasant Mahan, III, 53, of Oakland Park, Florida passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Mahan was born in Ocala, Florida to James and Helena (Pappas) Mahan, Jr.

A graduate of Bryan Station High School, Lexington, Kentucky, and Berea College, Berea, Kentucky. He graduated with a double major in French and German. He became a language teacher in Miami, Florida and Los Angeles, California. He spoke and taught five languages.

In his youth, he was a model for the John Casablancas Agency, Los Angeles. He modeled in Milan and Rome, Italy; Paris Frank, New York, Miami, Florida, Hollywood and Los Angeles, California.

He adored his two cats, Rubin and Rocko, who now reside with his Mother and Sister in Waverly, Ohio. We know many of his friends were very concerned. They are happy and content.

Jay is survived by his mother: Helena Mahan Pappas, his father: James P. Mahan, Jr. his sister: Windi Mahan Welch, his nieces and nephew: Amanda, Jamie and Travis Welch, as well as his half brother and sister: Cain and Summer Mahan.

In lieu of flowers please donate to your personal charity in his memory. A memorial sservice is being planned for a later date.
