James (Jimmy) E. Strickland, 59, was born at Holy Cross Hospital, Fort Lauderdale, FL, in 1957., the son of Eldred and Norma Jean (Hurt) Stickland. Jimmy passed away at North Broward Hospital, January 14, 2017 after fighting cancer for two years.
A lifelong resident of Pompano Beach, he spent his youth surfing and pllaying his guitar as only he could. The only time he live away from Pompano was during his years serving in the United States Army.
A skilled carpenter for more than 35 years, he took great pride in his work. His real love however was music, playing guitar and singing in local clubs for many years. Both his talents will be sorely missed.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda Strickland, Pompano Beach, as well as his sister, Melba Strickland, Alma, Georgia. Jimmy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Georgia and Florida.
A celebration of life will be held in Jimmy's honor, Sunday, March 12, 2017 at his and Linda's home in Pompano Beach, Florida.
