Joan M Paul, born Louise Joan Minster died at 5:50pm on Thursday, October 20, 2016.
Joan was survived by her daughter, Abigail Paul, but importantly also by a vast network of friends from her adventures and travels around the globe from Boston to Bhutan. Joan was a free spirit who loved travel, great adventures, great food and interesting people.
Born in Virginia in 1943, Joan spent most of her life trying to help others from her years of service as a social worker in California to a near 40-year career as an educator in Panama, Massachusetts and multiple schools in Broward County. She was a champion of left-wing progressive causes, and worked tirelessly for her local teacher's union, as well as the Democratic party.
A memorial service is being planned, and will take place later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Save the Children, a cause Joan contributed to personally and was passionate about.
