John Milanese Obituary

John Michael Milanese was born on April 29, 1959, in Ormand Beach, Florida and died November 4, 2016, at his home in Oakland Park.

John is survived by his mother Suzanne Clary, his sister Laurie Cathell, his nephew Nick Cathell, his devoted companion Cheryl Lione and their beloved cats.  Also survived by his aunt Marge Milanese  and cousins Michele and David Pesek.  He was predeceased by his father, Michael F. Milanese, and brother, Frank Milanese. Johnny grew up, as he put it, in the SW section, with his mother, brother and sister (the 4 amigos.)

He loved to take car trips, go out to eat and go to the drive-in movies with them. He attended Croissant Park Elementary and spent his after school time at Croissant Rec Center, which was a very big part of his childhood. A natural born athlete, he competed in all sports, always taking the first place award. He then attended Rogers Middle School where he spent most of his time across the street at Little Yankee boys football. That is where he met many of his friends, who adored him, as did the coaches who took Johnny under their wings. He graduated Stranahan High where he was called by the name "Johnny Mel" and then simply, "MEL". Summers were spent with his Dad at Downington, PA, and with his grandparents, Nana and Pa.  It was a second life, surrounded by a large Italian family full of cousins, aunts and uncles. There were always lots of parties and fun. Johnny was loved by all who crossed his path, if you met him you remembered him.  With his movie star looks, infectious smile and his gigantic heart he made a big impression.  He touched hearts wherever he went with his kindness, friendliness and treated everyone with respect.

Johnny's work was painting houses. However, over the last years Johnny took great pride in caring for his Dad, who he cherished. John is now at peace, reunited with his Dad, brother Frank, and the many friends and family who went before him.  Johnny, we will always love you and miss you.  "Once you shone among the living as the Morning Star; Among the dead you shine now, as the Evening Star"
