Laurence “Larry” R. Wantuck, A Wonderful Father and the Rock of the family.
Larry Wantuck of Hollywood, Florida, passed away at home unexpectedly on October 1, 2019.
He was born the second eldest son of four boys to Frank A. Wantuck and Carole Wantuck in Detroit, Michigan in the summer of 1938. He had a brilliant mind and quick wit.
He studied at the University of Florida and was a proud member of the Gator Nation. Larry was a math teacher and the longtime supervisor of mathematics for all Broward County Schools. In 1987, the Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics honored him as Mathematics Educator of the Year.
Larry was also a textbook author in the subject of mathematics. He later worked as the Sales Regional Manager for a well-known publishing company.
Larry met the love of his life, Fran, on a blind date and they shared 52 years of marriage, side by side. Together, they raised six children.
Above all else, Larry was a wonderful father and friend who took his family camping, and taught his children to fish, dive and love the outdoors. He gave them the benefit of his wisdom, knowledge, understanding and loving heart. There are no words to encompass the depth of loss they feel at his passing.
Larry was predeceased by his wife, Fran and his daughter Pamela Wantuck McKenzie Citron, of Attleboro, MA.
He is survived by his loving sons, Frank, (Sue), Todd, (Diane), Shawn, Patrick and Erik; grandchildren Madison, Sarah, Christian, Dakota and Skyler; brothers: Ken, of The Villages, FL, Don, of Sharpsburg, GA and Tom, of Hollywood, FL, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Larry never parted from family and dear ones without a kiss and an “I love you.” We love you, Poppy.
We will be remembering Larry Wantuck on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at Nativity Catholic Church, 5220 Johnson Street, Hollywood, Florida, 33021. Hope you can be with us.
