Louis Anthony Garibaldi, Jr.

Louis Anthony Garibaldi, Jr.  77 of Toms River, NJ/Pompano Beach, FL died on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Holy Cross Hospital, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

He was born in Jersey City, NJ on February 2, 1938 and was a long time resident of Union City.  He moved to Toms River in 1967.  He was a graduate of the University of Dayton and Trenton State College.  He was a Veteran that proudly served in the Marine Corps.  He taught in the Toms River School System for 36 years and was very active in the community.  He coached many sports during his lifetime.   Most notably he was a football coach at Toms River South in the 60’s, St Joe’s (Toms River) in the mid 70’s and Toms River North in the late 70’s.  He always brought a high level of drive and a winning attitude to everything he did.

He enjoyed the beach, fishing, reading the paper cover to cover, working out and coaching his children and grandchildren in their athletic endeavors. He also loved playing cards and board games and spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.  

He is survived by his beloved wife, Noreen Windeatt Garibaldi, of 52 years of marriage.  His son Joseph Garibaldi, daughter Maureen McKelvey and her husband Jay, grandchildren Nicole Garibaldi, Grant and Dylan McKelvey.  His sisters and brothers and their spouses, his sister and brother-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and close friends.
He was an extraordinary person that left the world a better place with his laughter, smile and willingness to guide and support the people he came in contact with throughout his life.
