Maria Kelley Obituary

Maria V Kelley was born September 1935 in Traverse City, Michigan. She fell asleep in death
peacefully January 2022. Maria was the youngest of 4 girls, born to Charles Edward VanDoren and
Delores VanDoren. While still a young school girl, her family moved to Miami. And in 1954 Maria
graduated from Miami Senior High School.

In 1956 she started her career working for AT&T (Bell South). She advanced her career within the
Company and retired after nearly 40 years of loyal service.

n 1958 she married the love of her life, Wilfred R. Kelley. They enjoyed over 60 years of marriage
together before his death in 2018. She was a loving and devoted wife to Wilfred.

In the 1970’s she developed a desire to understand the spiritual aspect of her life. Thus, at the
encouragement of her Husband, she contacted the Davie, FL Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and
requested a ‘Bible Study’. And on May 1976 she was dedicated and baptized as one of Jehovah’s
Witnesses. She was very grateful for the 'Bible Truths' she came to understand. Thus, in turn, began
volunteering her time to teach others what she had learned. She was a dedicated member of the Davie
Congregation at the time of her passing after over 46 years of association.

Maria was a cheerful person that brought joy to others. She had a love for people, and a wonderful
ability to reach others in a very deep and positive way. And she will be remembered fondly for her
beautiful smile and quit wit that brought much laughter to family and friends.

She loved to travel, and she and her husband enjoyed many beautiful travel destinations in the
retirement years. She also loved dancing; music; and singing. She also loved animals. Maria led a very
full and prosperous life. She’s missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her beloved sisters: Jacqueline Swaagman (James) of Orlando, FL and Gloria
Verdecchia (Joseph) of Miramar, FL. Wilfred's Grandson, Wayne Kelley. Additionally, many adoring
nieces and nephews, and extended family. And friends that became like family. She is preceded in
death by her Husband Wilfred Kelley; Wilfred's son Larry Kelley; her Parents Charles and Delores
VanDoren; and her sister Beverly Bierman.
