Michael Parsons-Sant Obituary

Michael Bicknell Parsons Sant - born November 5, 1943 in Seattle and left her friends and family on August 17, 2020.

Michael was many things depending upon who you were and how you knew her.  By profession she was a nurse (R.N.), Sunday school teacher, 3rd grade teacher, health educator, and AIDS Surveillance staff member. In her personal life she was a creative soul who loved to crochet and tackle any arts and crafts project thrown her way.  She was a cat lover but would lend a hand and take care of a friend’s dogs in a pinch.  After leaving nursing, she attended medical school in the Caribbean but was unable to complete her studies due to financial issues.  She was smart and knew medicine, and would have made a wonderful physician.

After the island adventure ended, she found herself in FL where she began work as a maternal/child health educator at the Broward County Health Department in Ft Lauderdale in 1987.  Those who work in public health must be passionate advocates for those they serve, and Michael embraced this role, which led to her involvement with the Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies Coalition where she taught childbirth education classes for expectant parents.  She developed life long friendships at the health department that persisted until the day she died.  Indeed, she was the Ethel to Pat’s Lucy and they had great adventures together - traveling to visit friends and family or taking a 'just because' trip.

Michael was inducted into this extended family celebrating holidays and milestone events with this very different-from-her-upbringing cast of characters.  An inveterate recipe clipper, she would never fail to make something special to add to the spread - we will always remember her chocolate-covered-cherry-mice.In her third-third, she met Ron, and the two were married in a beachside ceremony May 5, 2007.  Ron died in March 2019 and that was a crushing blow to Michael; they were inseparable and she lost her will to live without him.

Michael leaves behind her son, Bruce, his wife Theresa and their daughter Alexandria.  She remained lifelong friends with her former husband, Ralph Parsons, who ‘gave’ her the middle name Ann.

There will be no service, however, there will be a party when it is once again safe to gather - we will toast Michael, tell funny stories, and remember the importance of keeping our friend’s stories and memory alive.  In her honor, pumpkin pie will be served.
