Paul Elwood Berlin Jr., known affectionately as Paul by his friends and family, passed away on November 11, 2024, at the age of 69 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Born in Berwick, PA, on February 19, 1955, to the late Paul Berlin Sr. and Dorothy (Drumheller) Berlin, Paul was a man whose life was characterized by his loving nature, kindness, and friendly demeanor.
Paul grew up in the close-knit community of Berwick and graduated from Berwick High School. After completing his education, he joined the Air Force where he served four years. Upon discharge, he ventured out to explore various opportunities, eventually settling into a career that spanned different jobs both in Oregon and Florida. Paul's dedication and hard work culminated in his role as a maintenance man for Park Tower Condominiums in Fort Lauderdale from which he retired in 2017.
An avid car enthusiast, Paul found great joy in working on cars, attending car shows, and sharing his passion with fellow enthusiasts. His face would light up with pride as he discussed the intricacies of a classic engine or the sleek lines of a restored vehicle. Camping was another of Paul's interests, allowing him to immerse himself in nature and spend quality time with his loved ones.
Paul's family was at the core of his world. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Berlin Sr., his mother, Dorothy (Drumheller) Berlin, his sister Deborah Derruchia, and his brothers Rodney and Scott Berlin. Despite these profound losses, Paul's capacity for love never waned. He found companionship and support in his long-time partner, Tom Vogrin, and maintained a loving and respectful relationship with his former wife and dear friend, Veva Berlin. Paul was a cherished father to his daughters, Shera (Ryan) Ward, Korey (Chris) Cardiff, and son, Shaun (Jacqui) Berlin. His role as a grandfather to nine grandchildren was one of his greatest sources of pride and joy. He shared with them his love for life's simple pleasures, teaching them the value of family, hard work, and the importance of always lending a helping hand.
Those who knew Paul will remember his easy smile and the warmth that seemed to radiate from him. His legacy is one of love and kindness, and the countless lives he touched will forever hold onto the memories of his friendship and care. As Paul's journey on earth comes to a close, his spirit lives on through the stories shared by friends, the laughter of his grandchildren, and the quiet moments when his memory brings comfort to those he left behind. A life well-lived is not measured in years but in the love shared and the happiness spread; by this measure, Paul's life was truly remarkable. Paul's family takes solace in knowing that he is now at peace after a brave battle with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonisms, a condition he faced with the same strength and dignity that marked his entire life.
