We suffered a great loss with the passing of Robert John Grampa on Saturday September 14th, 2019. Born March 16th, 1939, he was better known as Bob or Bobby, and best known to many as Pop Pop. Born in Ohio, his family moved to Dania, FL when he was a child.
Bob was an accomplished athlete, playing Center on the South Broward High School class of 1957 football team and then later at Pratt Community College in Kansas. He valued his Italian heritage and was very dedicated to his family. Bob worked hard as a young man contributing to his family’s business, Grampa’s Bakery.
He was drafted at the age of 23 and proudly served in the Army, fulfilling his active duty in Germany. He was honorably discharged and later also served in the Army Reserve. Bob was extremely artistic. His talent excelled with cake decorating, which stemmed from his roots at the bakery. Bob also made a successful career for himself at Florida Power and Light. He had a loving marriage for 56 years and lived happily in South Florida with his wife and family. Bob passed away at home after a long and courageous battle with kidney disease.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Claudio and Edvice Grampa, and brothers, Clyde and Ronnie Grampa. Bob is survived by his adoring wife, Eleanor Cull Grampa, and loving family, Children: Paige (Kevin) Warnock, Kim (Brett) Matthews, Eric (Joey) Grampa. Grandchildren: Daniel (Ashley) Warnock, Tyler Warnock (Ralph Raphael), Austin (Michelle) Warnock, Reece Warnock, Kaleb Matthews, Ciara Matthews and Charlotte Grampa. Great Grandchildren: Kaydence and Kamryn Warnock. His loss will be felt far and wide, for years to come. Bob left an imprint on all those fortunate enough to know him with his warm smile and huge heart. He had a compassionate and giving spirit like no other. Rest in Peace. YOU ARE MISSED!
A Celebration of his life on Friday October 11th, 2019. Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church 1301 SW 136th Avenue, Davie, FL 33325.
A reception will follow at the Oak Ridge Hall at Tree Tops Park, 3900 SW 100th Avenue, Davie, FL 33328.
