Ruth Marjorie Earn

Ruth Marjorie Earn, 96, our beloved Sister in Christ, Ruth Earn passed to her eternal resting place with the Lord, June 2, 2021.

Ruth was born in Manchester, Connecticut, to Carl Johan and Hedvig Martina (Falck) Earn. She spent her career as a High School Teacher. 

Ruth was our community's own Mother Theresa because of her humbleness, kindness, compassion and unconditional love of others, especially those in need.

Fifteen years ago, at the age of 80, after church, Ruth made a peanut butter sandwich for a stranger in need and from that moment Ruth Ministry was born. Pre-Covid, Ruth Ministry served over 8,000 home cooked meals annually to those who are hungry. Pre-Covid, over 5,000 shirts and 3,600 pairs of shoes were given annually. Even now, Ruth Ministry continues to serve others with safety cautions being observed. Ruth Ministry reminds us of Jesus and his Loaves and Fishes gifts which also fed thousands.

Ruth Earn's occupation was teaching and also being a reading consultant in Berlin, Connecticut. She loved teaching children. She was also an accomplished author and poet.

On the back of her book "Imagine", is a tribute to Ruth. It reads"
"Ruth M. Earn believes that when teachers are given the freedom to be creative, great joy can pervade a classroom and children become alive with ideas."

"Imagine if we cherished the differences between us?
Imagine if we approached each day with fresh eyes and open hearts, the mysterious language of animals, the vastness of the sea.
Imagine what a world this would be."

Ruth, we will miss your smile. We will miss the in person experience of your kindness and love for others. Ruth you touched thousands of lives during your time here. Ruth, your love will live on through Ruth Ministry and your poetry and kindness given to others. We will miss you but know that you will continue to always watch over us.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Ruth Earn on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM

The service will be held in the Sanctuary at United Church of Christ Fort Lauderdale, 2501 NE 30th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33306.

As Ruth would say..."All Are Welcome".
