Steven A. Maze died on Saturday, July 22, 2017 after a two week stay at the Trustbridge Hospice at the Sea in Pompano where he slowly but beautifully experienced the ending days of his life due to a very recent discovery of cancer in many parts of his body.
Those who were with him were able to say goodbye to him and be heard. He was affirmed in his uplifting manner in which he slipped away and told that he and his spouse, Daniel W.Fulmer, would be with him in some way and in some place forever. Steve held to that same view and it sustained him during his last days.
He was a down to earth and strong person who acted rather than talked much. He had a long career as a lighting designer for the Ashland Shakespeare Theater in Oregon as well as for other repertoire theaters on the West Coast. He started a new life for himself some thirty plus years ago in Santa Cruz, California where he lived on a boat and worked in the funeral business there.
He met his surviving spouse in 2000 and they together moved to Kauai in Hawaii in the next year. In 2009 he and Dan moved to Fort Lauderdale where they lived on the 11th floor of East Point Towers, often just sitting together near their western window watching the amazing, always different sunsets over the Everglades. For a while Steve worked for Holland America in their dockside services, and they both cruised often to almost every part of the globe. Dan and Steve were married in Fort Lauderdale on January 21, 2015. A happier, more totally connected and commited couple would be hard to find.
Steve was a quiet servant of Spirit who was often visited by its manifestations and messages. They showed him his path in life and promised that he would see the Light. Those who would like to know more can contact Dan at dannywf@att.net .
